Paracoccidioidomycosis (PCM) is the most prevalent human mycosis in Latin America. The infection is thought to take place firstly in the lungs and then may disseminate to other organs and tissues. Treatment by currently available antifungals is lengthy, the drugs may have undesirable side effects, and some are costly. Occasional resistant strains of Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, the causative agent of PCM, have been reported. So, the search for more efficient treatments or adjuvant therapies has to be continued. In this work, we evaluated the effects of HeNe laser irradiation on cutaneous inflammatory lesions caused by the inoculation of 5 x 10(6)/0.1ml yeasts cells into the back footpad of Balb/c mice. HeNe irradiation (lambda=632.8nm, 3mW, incident energy of 3J/cm(2)) was applied at days 7, 8 and 9 post-infection and histological and immunohistochemical analysis were done. Unirradiated animals were used as controls. The results showed that laser-treated mice presented reduction of footpad edema, faster cutaneous wound healing, confluent granuloma, diffuse- and more loosely distributed immunolabeling for TNF-alpha, enhanced labeling of IFN-gamma and any P. brasiliensis form detected, whereas multiple viable fungi were seen in diffuse widespread granulomas obtained from non-treated mice foot-pad. Fungi that were harvested from laser-treated animals presented no capability of growth in vitro as compared to those obtained from non-treated mice. We conclude that HeNe laser irradiation was able to inhibit the progress of inflammatory local reaction produced by P. brasiliensis infection and influence local cytokines production. We suggest that this treatment modality can be a useful coadjuvant tool to be combined with antifungal agents in the treatment of PCM ulcerations. The mechanisms involved in laser therapy of PCM lesions need further investigation.  相似文献

The morphological and electrical characterization of transparent nanostructured LiNbO3–SiO2 thin films synthesized by a novel sol–gel route is reported. Films annealed at different temperatures exhibit different size of the nanocrystals, as demonstrated by Atomic Force Microscopy and Glancing Incidence X-ray diffraction. The dc electrical measurements performed on planar devices reveal electrical bistability. A clear relationship between the electrical bistability and the size of LiNbO3 nanocrystals embedded in the matrix is observed.  相似文献

In this work univariate set-valued functions (SVFs, multifunctions) with 1D compact sets as images are considered. For such a continuous SFV of bounded variation (CBV multifunction), we show that the boundaries of its graph are continuous, and inherit the continuity properties of the SVF. Based on these results we introduce a special class of representations of CBV multifunctions with a finite number of ‘holes’ in their graphs. Each such representation is a finite union of SVFs with compact convex images having boundaries with continuity properties as those of the represented SVF. With the help of these representations, positive linear operators are adapted to SVFs. For specific positive approximation operators error estimates are obtained in terms of the continuity properties of the approximated multifunction.  相似文献

The determination of total arsenic through As(V) anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) is, in some cases, preferable over As(III) ASV. The As(V) ASV procedure has no chemical reduction step from As(V) into As(III), which results in decreased analysis time and no contamination from reducting reagents. A simple and reliable procedure of As(V) determination is proposed. Anodic stripping determination of trace As(V) at gold microelectrode ensembles in diluted HCl solution in the presence of dissolved oxygen is shown. The electrode is based on a carbon black (30%)–polyethylene composite. The sensor was prepared by gold electrodeposition on the surface of the composite electrode. The given sensor is cheap, reliable and stable, especially when electrochemical activation is employed. The experimental parameters for the electrochemical determination were optimized, namely 0.005?M HCl as the background electrolyte, the deposition potential ?2.2?V (versus Ag/AgCl in 1?M KCl) and 180?mV?s?1 linear scan rate. Calibration curves were obtained and were linear in [As(V)] over the 1.5–45?µg?L?1 range, with a LOD of 0.5?µg?L?1. The effect of common interfering species is studied. The electrochemical behaviour of As(III) form is studied in the same experimental conditions. It was found that As(III) is deposited at lower potentials (starting at ?0.6?V) and the sensitivity of As(III) detection is higher, but dependant on the presence of dissolved oxygen. The speciation of inorganic forms of arsenic is discussed.  相似文献

We show that the directed subdifferential introduced for differences of convex (delta-convex, DC) functions by Baier and Farkhi can be constructed from the directional derivative without using any information on the delta-convex structure of the function. The new definition extends to a more general class of functions, which includes Lipschitz functions definable on o-minimal structure and quasidifferentiable functions.  相似文献
